Editing WikiMedia

Examples of wikis that are hosted by mediawiki include Citizendium, Ganfyd, Medpedia, Scholarpedia, Wicktionary, Wikipedia, wiserwiki.

Before starting

  1. Register to use Wikipedia and/or Citizendium
  2. Prepare your browser for easier editting and reading
    1. Install the UTHDSCSA citation maker bookmarklet on your browser
    2. Install Navigation_popups on your profile. This is a very nice feature for registered users any Mediawiki product.
    3. If you use FireFox as your browser
      1. install WikEd interface by:
        1. Install Greasemonkey
        2. Install WikEd to make your editting interface easier to use.
      2. Consider installing Zotero which helps format citations directly from journal websites if you have citations that are too new to be indexed by PubMed
    4. If you use FireFox or Internet Explorer 7, install searchplugs to help your find source evidence.

    • If you have the time
      • Enter the webpage's url at the Diberri tool
