Case

62 year old white male with colorectal cancer admitted from CTRC to ALMVAH with one day history of left lower extremity pain and swelling. Dopplers positive.

Clinical Question:

Since cancer patients are high risk, what is the optimal treatment of first-episode DVT in patients with active cancer? Is it the same as usual DVT management (hep or lmwh and coumadin overlap then prolonged coumadin)
